Paleontologist Paul Sereno, PhD, Professor, Organismal Biology & Anatomy, was featured in various news outlets including the New York Times, National Geographic magazine, and the Chicago Tribune for his unexpected discovery of a massive graveyard in the Sahara desert while searching for dinosaur fossils. About 200 burials representing two successive human populations were found at the site. Read the full New York Times article.
Evolutionary biologist Neil Shubin, PhD, Associate Dean for Organismal and Evolutionary Biology, was among several scientists quoted in a New York Times article about the new, anticipated video game "Spore," which follows single-cell microbes through their evolution into intelligent creatures. Shubin shares that the game gives players a sense of how evolution uses the same "basic tool kit" to produce different body plans. Read the full article.
